THRILLIFYING NEWS!

Baby its cold outside!
Luckily we've been purchasing new clothes every day (literally...and totally necessarily) so we have plenty of layers to pile on and on and on!

We met up with some more Aussie friends (they're everywhere! hehe) Jaz and Dan Carman who are heading back to Newcastle soon after about 8 months in America. Today we caught up at Chipotle in the freezing rain...we've decided our next date will be Nandos on the beach in the sunshine once we're all home!

After a very tasty and looooong lunch Nath and I were back on mission:

Win the Wicked Lottery.

It is a challenge we had failed to conquer twice already...but you should know how the saying goes "third times a charm"...
AND THE FIRST NAME CALLED WAS
BRITTANY HEDRICK !!
I've never heard Nath scream with delight before (and I may have teared up just a little) *insert a lot of happy dancing and excessive smiling*

That grin was not going anywhere, but we are going to WICKED on Broadway!

I like this picture much better than yesterdays miserable face!

Ok, ok, I'll stop. Thats probably enough...though we took many (many) more hehe!

After composing ourselves we went to Cosi for dinner, its right near the theatre and does delicious fresh baked flat bread with soup, or as a pizza, or as a sandwich...basically however you want it they make it, fresh and just for you! Yum!
Nathan found the worlds tiniest straw! We are unsure what its actual purpose is...because, well, its so tiny!

then things got
WICKED

Shhhhh, sneaky pre-show photo from the front row ;)

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better...around this time of year broadway shows come together to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids which basically means each show offers special extras to entice your donations. Things like a Christmas CD (which we bought at Newsies!) hats, bags, signed posters, and, oh, BACKSTAGE TOURS!
We are officially massive supporters of Broadway cares/Equity Fights Aids.

So here we are backstage with Michael DeVires who was a fountain of knowledge on all things Wicked and the Gershwin theatre (which is understandable because he's been performing in Wicked on Broadway for over 8years now!)

He was a multi-character cast member tonight (mainly Elphaba's father...and the guy who says "the Wizard will see you now!") But is also a Wizard himself...pretty flipping cool.

We also met Boq.

ELPHABA!

Found the actual Grimmerie

And the Wizard of Oz's head!

Which there are two of!

And took a bow.

Thankyou, thankyou very much!

It was an amazing night!
Even after staying back until it was almost 'tomorrow', then walking 28 blocks home in pouring rain at a lovely 2°C...it was still definitely worth it!

Welcome to our newly decorated apartment, chinese laundry a-la-hedrick

Goodnight fellow oz-ians!

  4. Haha the first line is the last line in my speech last night!! This comment box keeps freezing up on me so I created the message in "pages" and just copied and pasted it. Whilst I'm at it are there many different shows on broadway or mostly the same as before xxx

  7. Hi Britt and Nathan,
What a wonderful job you are doing on this blog. So descriptive I almost feel like I am there with you.
I am so glad you are having such an amazing time. I might pack my bags and come join you.
We missed you at the RMH Christmas party. Without you and your friends to put on our Christmas dance, the volunteers and staff had to do it. Please be here to do it next year.
We look forward to seeing you when you get back, but for now, remember we love you and KEEP HAVING A FFFFFABULOUS TIME.
Very fond regards from RONALD McDONALD
