Today we travelled to Italy!
Well Eataly, but Italy is Eataly ;)
The entrance is extremely deceptive and in the middle of the busy Flatiron district it is hard to believe this little world really exists, even after spending a whole day there!
Inside we admired the cheese (YUMMMM!)
and set out to find our first meal of many!
STOP 1: LE VERDURE
Vegetables! We were hoping to start with our personal favourite bruschetta but the daily special featured the delicious (NOT) brussle-sprouts :(
Instead we opted for 'fried seasonal vegetables' and it was amazing! The batter they were fried in was one of the chef's signature specials, He says it was as easy as flour, salt, pepper, and seasonal spice...I doubt it.
The cauliflower was purple?!
Excuse my face, but it was too yummy to stop eating just for a photo. Hehe.
Next Stop: MANZO RISTORANTE
Meat! Nathan's happy place :)
Here we got Roasted Beef Rib...it was cooked to perfection and would literally 'melt in your mouth'
Simply divine.
Next up: LA PASTA
With Italian Birra...
and wine to match!
Nath got the Gnocchi al Ragù di Agnello, and I had Spaghettone :D
After that we were starting to feel the effects of all the food (and I haven't even mentioned we've been eating bread and olive oil buy the basket load at every stop!) so naturally we needed a palate cleanser...
GELATO
Peppermint Choc Chip and Tiramisu Gelato's in hand we explored all the different shops within Eataly.
Supersize wine...and Olive Oil!
Dandelion!
Feeling ready to tackle some more we wandered to
LA PIAZZA
Here in the middle of Eataly you can sample foods from the 4 adjoining Markets; La Mozzarella, Salumi and Formaggi, Eccellenze, and Crudo!
(Phew, so many Italian words, its giving my spell check a workout!)
That filled us up!
Ciao Eataly!! You we're a food lovers delight!
Back into the cold streets of New York, past the Flatiron building looking particularly flat tonight...
and onto the crowded subway!
(Luckily we don't mind cuddling up extra close!)
With a quick stop at M&M World. Nath had a few missions in mind:
a) Wanted to see what colour M&M he was
b) Felt he had some more space (later he decided he did not!) and wanted M&M's for dessert
and funnily enough, the machine agreed!
"You may just be the kindest person ever to stand on that spot! Be good to yourself, have some chocolate!"
With very full bellies and 2 x Bottles of M&M's we rolled into bed!
Goodnight!
