It was another chilly day in New York...though the temperature rose above 0ºC today!
We took advantage of the sun and leftover snow and went for a walk though the park (again!)
The lake has definitely frozen over once more, but with all the snow yesterday there is a slushy layer over the top making it pretty dangerous..and cool.
Nath picked up this massive chunk of ice from the edge.
Its so cool to see everything so frozen and with SO much snow! The pictures might not show it very well but there was heaps more snow everywhere today as it snowed almost non-stop yesterday and a bit throughout the night.
As much as we love the snow, it was very nice to have the sun back on our faces!
We walked through 'Strawberry Fields' which looked more like snowy fields, and stopped to appreciate the memorial dedicated to John Lennon.
Through the park we popped out on the west-side for a day of thrift shopping *cue Macklemore* in search for our Christmas sweaters. Unfortunately they are REALLY hard to find :( but of course we didn't leave empty handed!
Santa may have purchased a tennis racquet...because it was still practically brand new!
And I got a new wardrobe!!
Just kidding! I nearly came home with some 80's prom style dresses...but decided that I wanted to find a Christmas sweater more.
We stopped by Alice's on the West Side for an energy snack (or chocolate caramel scone..both work)
And continued the search...to no avail :(
Slightly disheartened we turned to the real stores on 34th Street. Starting with a massive music store that had possibly the largest drum set up in the world! I know Jack Bingham would appreciate this. Imagine all the noise you could generate..and I think it could fit in your room, you might just need to empty everything else out ;)
Back on the street the sun was saying its final goodbyes.
How fun we were up on top of that building just the other night!
After we visited most of 34th Street we walked back up to Bryant Park to enjoy the ice-skating, and the Christmas Tree...it truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
Exhausted from all the walking and shopping today we headed home, via a VERY nice Mercedes.
So excited for another week together in New York City!!
B + N
Sunday Funday it seems!
ReplyDeleteExcept for the lack of matching sweaters to wear on Christmas Day!!
Have you asked people where to buy them? Probably!
Dad can't believe how different things look with snow....
I can't believe it full stop!!
It's just over a week until Christmas so I'm glad you've had some sunshine today. Love you loads Mum xx
Its really quite sad...I have googled EVERY possible option and we have searched far and wide, our next resort is making them ourselves! This might prove fairly challenging though!
