HAPPY CHRISTMAS

HAPPY CHRISTMAS DAY
We must have been good because even though we were away on holidays Santa still found us!
Spoilt! I'll let you guess which pile of goodies belong to who ;)
 Christmas day was already amazing!
Lunch was booked at Caprini Dolci in Grand Central Station. We had a table overlooking the main concourse which was simply alive with everyone travelling for the holiday.
Dreaming of a white christmas? We were and we found one! Even though it didn't physically snow on us there was plenty around to make everything merry and bright.
We ventured to a few ice-skating rinks but the crowds were insanely huge and unfortunately for us prices had jumped through the roof...so it was off to Times Square to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere...
and the NBA which was being broadcast live onto the big screen.
The sunset was beautiful (my picture doesn't do it any justice) and the perfect way to end the day..
 JUST KIDDING! It's only 4:30pm!
Feeling lucky we entered Nath into the Matilda lottery, because it's very popular you can only win once every 30 days, so we're depending on his luck to bring us through this time...and it did! 2 x tickets to Matilda as our last show on Broadway. Nath was jumping for joy!
With a limited amount of time until the show started we ran to Five Guys a burger place we noticed earlier in the day that was just around the corner. They boasted the best fries in America (isn't that McDonalds claim?) and with a large that felt like it was never-ever-ending, they were pretty tasty!
Nathan however was more interested in the soft drink machine that had more flavour combinations than he could handle!
Feeling satisfied with our fairly untraditional Christmas dinner we took our seats and were ready to love every minute of Matilda.
After the show we spent the rest of our Christmas in Times Square just enjoying the world around us, and trying not to get too disappointed that this would be the last time we do this for a long time.
We love and will miss you NYC, you have captured a piece of our hearts forever.

May your days be merry and bright

CHRISTMAS EVE

Happy Christmas Eve/Australian Christmas :)
Although whilst we were loving 'all you can eat' breakfast, most of you were sleeping!
We thought we were up and ready early to visit Santa at Macy's...but when we got there the wait time was more than 3.5 hours. Santa we think you are awesome, but we cannot wait that long in a line for anything! Plus, we thought he'd probably be feeling rushed as it was time he got to Australia to deliver presents (if you've been good!) so we caught up with a few of his elves who were more than happy to take a picture with us and our matching sweaters!
Every other level of Macy's was rather quite comparatively so we enjoyed a little bit of retail therapy...I hope it's not too late to add to our Christmas lists ;)
Only one show was on today; 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder' fortunately we loved this show, and we scored $35 tickets in the front row!
It was still hilarious! Jefferson Mays, we are massive fans!
On our walk home we stopped by Tiffany's!
Lucky me!! Though I was left alone as Nathan went surprise shopping (but I am not complaining! I can happily wait as long as it takes in Tiffany's)
Almost home we stopped off at Bloomingdales for some more last minute shopping, literally down to the minute. Enjoying dinner with 'the best burger in NYC' the Juicy Burkey by David Burke.
They were pretty great!
Oh and we sat right on the window and watched as snow (YES Christmas Eve snow!!) started to fall outside.
All that plus a few Skype sessions with our families...a perfect evening.

TRULY WICKED

Hello from the subway!
Today we booked lunch for Christmas Day (just in time!) and decided to catch the train to Brooklyn in to explore a little of what we saw in the dark last night.
It was an eventful day, mostly spent inside as it was raining again.
We were hoping to see Coney Island but it was so foggy outside, we didn't get there...but on the way home our subway train stopped abruptly! There was a person on the tracks! We don't know why or how but looking out our window a few people on the platform were pulling a man off the tracks we have just driven on. Pretty scary, and it then stuffed all the trains around due to delays and needing to repairs. That coupled with delays because of the low visibility, we were lucky to finally make it back to Manhattan!
Walking through Times Square in the rain is incredible, because you can walk wherever you like. The crowds thin out and the steps are closed...it's almost serene.

Feeling a bit flat after all the subway issues we joined the extremely long line at the Wicked lottery.
We were tired, and wet, and slightly deflated when "Brittany Hedrick" was called from the front!
YES!!
I practically ran to the front, that feeling is definitely on of the best in the world.
Victorious, we jumped on the subway home to get dressed up a little. After all, this is possibly the last time we will see Wicked on Broadway (at least for a little while!)
Back downtown we thought 'Broadway Thai' sounded good..most thai food is.
Little did we know, inside it was a live jazz restaurant and many of the other guests were ex-broadway stars and we got quite spoilt as many of them jumped up with the band to sing a few classics. What a hidden gem! If we find the time (haha) we will definitely be coming back here!
 Back to Oz...
It was absolutely brilliant, how could it be any less! Such a stellar show and night
Oh New York, how will we leave you :(
Still on a high from the show we danced around Times Square for a little while...

With a quick feature on the Forever21 billboard.
Eventually we caught the subway (with no delays, yay!) home
Just in time for some Christmas craft ;) DIY Christmas sweaters, here we come!
